A Perfect Goodbye

 I have been blessed to do my animal communication readings for over 20 years.  Recently, I received a message from a client whose cat I read for many years ago. This was her first cat, and she came to her as a hungry stray kitten.

My client:  "My female 15-year-old cat, KT had not been feeling well and had had no appetite.  I decided to take her for the first time to see a vet as she was not eating or drinking.  The vet said she has a tumor in her stomach.  She has only been treated using homeopathy, so I will not use any aggressive treatment like surgery or chemotherapy or even pursue additional diagnostic studies.  I would, however, like for you to speak with her.  Many years ago, I was having behavioral issues with her, and you spoke to her -- and no problems since. 
Question -- how best to assist her in this, her final performance."

Frances:  Hi KT – I hear you’re not feeling very well. Can you tell me about your thoughts at this stage in your life?

KT:  Thank you for giving me this opportunity to talk with my mom. I love her so very much and want her to know how appreciative I am for the life we have had together. She was the best person for me to have as my mom. She understood my moods and my idiocrasies that only she could understand and tolerate for me. I have not been feeling well for a while, but tried to hide it the best I could. I never wanted to leave Mom’s side but my time on this planet – for my body anyway – is coming close to an end. Food is not settling well, and I do not feel like my body can go on much longer without it. I would rather leave on my own, as long as I am not suffering or causing Mom undue hardship. I do not want the doctor to do anything to keep my body here as it is not part of my life’s plan. Please let Mom know that I will always love her and cherish our time together. I will be around her when she thinks of me and talks to me. I will hear every word she says out loud or in her thoughts, so she knows I am with her even when my physical body is long gone. Please know that I love Mom very much and will not be offended if she brings another stray into her life when the timing is right. I can assist to find her the perfect stray – not to replace me, because of course nobody can do that, but to share Mom’s love that she has to give. I thank you for the opportunity to speak with Mom again for the last time - unless she wants to talk after I cross over – I’m good with that too.

Happy 2023!!!

You’ve probably heard of the “mean girl”.  Well, this time it is the “mean cat”.  Sally pounces at her two female feline housemates every day with no provocation.  I asked her why she does this and here is a bit of our discussion: Sally:  I can’t help it if I like to pick on them.  It’s just my nature.  I’m the mean cat. Frances:  I don’t believe that one bit, Sally.  You can make a choice.  Every minute of every day you can make a choice to be a better kitty to your housemates.  Nicer to yourself even.  You don’t have to wear the badge of the mean cat.  You are choosing to do this, and Mom needs you to change that badge.  This is hard on Mom due to her health situation, and it would benefit her and yourself to make that change.  Kelly and Lisa don’t deserve the brunt of your bullying.  They have done nothing to you to cause this.  Don’t blame them for anything that happened to you in the past.  Move on and take in the love this family has for you.  Open your heart and I bet you will be very surprised by what happens – in a good way.  What do you think?  Does this make sense to you? Sally:    I understand what you are saying.  I wish I could believe it is that simple.  I have not been able to trust anyone, people or cats, in my entire life, until now.  Mom and Dad are great, I do trust them to some extent, but I’m always waiting for the next thing to happen, to show me the good life I have now is going away.  I still have that fear, you know?   Frances:  Yes, honey, I do understand that fear.  Let me tell you what that stands for:  false evidence appearing real.  It is your mind telling you things will get worse without any evidence to back it.  You are working on old patterns that you no longer need to hold on to.  Your life today is nothing like it was before.  Look forward, and expect better and better, not worse and worse.  I know this is easy for me to say but give it a try.  You can start with minute-by-minute.  Then hour-by-hour and day-by-day.  Think of every time the sun comes up, it is another chance to make a decision to be a happy, loving, and gentle cat to show your family, human, and feline that you can do this.  I know you can do this, Sally.  I have faith in you, and I know your Mom and Dad do, too.  Does this make sense?  Can you do this? Sally:  You make it sound so simple.  I know sometimes I feel bad when I have picked on Kelly.  I don’t know Lisa well enough to know if I even like her or not.  She hisses and stuff, so I just keep doing my stuff with her.   Frances:  You do realize she does the hissing because you do your stuff to her, right? Sally:  Yeah, I guess if I stop then she probably will stop too, right?  Frances:  Yes, that is how it works.  You be nice to her, and she will learn she can be nice right back to you.  One step at a time.  Every day is a new day to practice being nice.  This is the best for all involved in your family, you do realize this, right? Sally:  Yeah, I see this now.  I guess I just have to give it a try as you say.   Frances:  Thank you, Sally.  It will get better every day, I promise.  I will be talking with mom in a little bit.  Anything you want to say to her? Sally:  Sorry for being such a mean cat to the others.  I guess I am just afraid that things will not last as good as it has been since coming to live with you.  I know now that Frances says it’s my mind saying it won’t last, I can practice being nice and accept it for what it is. I am happy with you and Dad and even the other cats.  I guess I was afraid I was being replaced with the new ones coming in.  I know I came after Kelly, but I still felt like maybe I could replace her somehow.  I don’t know, I guess my mind was doing funny stuff and I was acting on it by being mean.  I will do my best not to be mean but be nicer and nicer each day.  Wow, this sounds like a big deal, doesn’t it? I do love everyone here and want to do better, I really do.   Frances:  Thank you, Sally.  I’m sure Mom and your family will appreciate you much more when you relax and enjoy your life without fear.  I’ll be talking to Mom soon.  Bye for now. Letting Go

 

Annie is an older cat who had surgery for GI cancer and follow-up chemotherapy treatments.  My client was concerned as the treatments would leave her sick for two weeks followed by a second treatment just a week later.  She was not seeing the benefits of continuing this treatment and wanted to know what Annie wanted her to do.

Frances:  Hi Annie – how are you?

Annie:  Oh, I’m okay, I guess.  I know mom is concerned about me and how I am feeling.  This isn’t easy on either of us.  I know she is doing everything she can to keep me going. Please let her know that I love her very much and appreciate all her efforts to keep me here with her.  I want her to know that it is time for me to stop the treatments and let me go on my own time.  Nothing they do is going to help keep me here forever – we all have to go some time, right?  So let me go when it comes my time, without the treatments so I will be more aware of my surroundings and not be sick from the treatments.  I’m not ready to go yet, but just know when it is my time, there will not be a question unanswered.  You did everything right, you are the best mom I could ever have had and I will always be in your heart.  Please enjoy the time we have left together without being sad or disappointed as we have had a good life together to remember. 

Frances:  Thank you, Annie.  I will be speaking with you and mom later today.

Annie:  Ok, thank you for talking with me.

Frances:  My pleasure, Annie.

Enjoy Your Furry Friends

 

Last week I had an animal communication session with a cat who was near the end of his time here. 

When I asked him what he wanted he replied: 

“Sometimes I think it would be easier to not be here anymore, but I do enjoy mom’s love and attention.  I am still able to eat and enjoy that quite a bit.  If I ever stop eating that is a clear sign I don’t want to continue and please help me along to my exit.”

My client laughed and said as a treat for him she would feed him his favorite cat food, the less expensive but tasty ones.  Food is one of their favorite things in life – love and a roof over their heads follow closely behind. 

Years ago, I had a client who wanted to know if her dog Lucky who was deaf and blind, was ready to go to heaven.  I asked him and he said, “No, the food is too good.”  Little did I know she had specially marked meat in the freezer with his name on it.

Enjoy your furry friends all the time you have with them as they pack a lot of love in that short time with you.

Summer is Near - Traveling with Pets?

As things feel like they are returning to normal, at least a new normal, going out and enjoying new adventures are in order.  With the sunny summer travels approaching, it’s so important to remember our furry four-legged friends.  When you take them on your car ride adventures, please consider their safety.  We use seat belts, and they should too for their safety as well.   Like children, sitting on your lap with the car moving, whether you are the driver or the passenger – is not safe if you have to stop short or God forbid, were in an accident.  

If you have a smaller size pet, consider the basket type where they can see out the window while being safely strapped in.  There are other strapping devices for larger pets who may sit in the back seat with the window cracked open for their nose to stick out (I just love seeing the wind blowing in their face and the hair blowing back).  Please be careful not to have the window open too much so they don’t fall out.  If your pet rides in the back bed of the truck – please consider harnessing them in with more than a single leash connected to their collar.  (I don’t want to think what can happen should they try to jump out).  Have fun, enjoy the new adventures of this phase for you and your pet’s life.

A Nice Place to Be

A Nice Place to Be

Thinking about this month’s newsletter message from the animals I realized I was really at a blur; but this blur was one of calm.

I am at a point where I have so many wonderful things coming up for me and my cats seem to be picking up on the same calm. The little furniture I have left in my living room has been a central point for the two cats and I. They will be around me and sit with me while watching TV or looking at my laptop. The cat toys are around me and sometimes they’ll play, but mainly they’re at a calm place too. They’re not running around crazy with all the boxes - at least not all the time. Once in a while, they use the boxes as stepping stones to look from high above.

The calmer I am, the calmer my two female cats Ollie and Sage are and it’s really become quite a nice place to be.

6 Tips to Keep Your Cat Cool in the Heat

June is Adopt a Cat Month!

Help celebrate Adopt a Shelter Cat Month by visiting the cats and kittens at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center.  Millions of cats and kittens nationwide are waiting for their forever homes, including many currently available at the Center. 

Here are some ways that you can help cats during this special month:

1.   Adopt -  The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center has reduced adoption fees for all kittens until June 7 and for most adult cats through the entire month of June. Come to the shelter to meet the amazing cats and kittens waiting for their new families.

2.   Donate - The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center has a wish list of needed items.  Donating any of these items is a great help to the animals awaiting their new homes.

3.   Foster -  The Center has an extensive foster program for kittens, and new foster parents are always needed

4.  Spay and Neuter - SpayUSA reported that an unspayed female cat, her mate, and all of their offspring could produce as many as 370,000 cats in as little as 7 years! Contact the Center for a referral to a local low cost spay/neuter clinic.

Can I communicate with my pets while away?

If I think of my cats while I'm away on vacation and send them love, will they be able to receive my communication? 

Yes, absolutely!  In your mind, say their names so your intention goes to them specifically and tell them whatever makes your heart sing.  Have a wonderful trip!

Whiskers, is very creative with her food.  She likes to create portraits in her kibble.  These have just started to appear in her dish within the last few months.   

Whisker’s auntie Lisa thinks that the one on the top looks like her with the big hair. Someone else said it looks like lil orphan Annie.  Some pre-teens we polled thinks the two on the right look like the evolution of Michael Jackson's style!
