Saying Goodbye to Ollie

I had a 16-year-old cat named Harmony whose was name was actually ironic as he was grumpy and not harmonic at all. He was upset because I had to euthanize the previous cat named Itty-Bitty as he had kidney failure and Harmony was missing his pal. He would hide in the closet and only come out to eat and go to the litter box.

In 2017, I adopted two kittens from an ad I found on Nextdoor. The mother was a young six-month-old cat that was getting ready to be fixed, but then they discovered she was pregnant. I took the last two of the litter, two sisters, I named Sage and Ollie. Ollie was the runt of the litter who eventually showed signs of hip dysplasia.  They were a joy to watch and brought Harmony out of his depression.

I had to say goodbye to Ollie Friday morning, July 3rd as her hip dysplasia worsened to a frozen right leg and she was moving in circles.

That afternoon I fell asleep on the couch with Sage asleep on her favorite window seat. We didn't get much sleep the previous night. I had a dream Ollie was sitting next to me and shared her love and said “thank you”.

A few days later, Sage and I were on the couch relaxing and we both heard a cat scratching in the cat box. Of course, she and I looked at each other and I said, “It’s OK Ollie you can come around whenever you want, you can sit and watch TV with us and stay on the bed with us, whatever you like.” I know she’s always going to be here in my heart but right now she wants to be with us energetically. She is loved and she knows it.

Patti's Goodbye Message

Patti was a 9-year-old Terrier mix who died while on vacation with her mom.  They were staying in a rented home where Patti had full access to the balcony and garden.  My client went out to a special dinner and when she came home, she found Patti in the garden – dead.  What happened?

Frances:  Hi Patti – I understand you passed away suddenly.  Can you tell me what happened?

PattiAfter Mom left, I went downstairs to the garden.  I was feeling dizzy, and then it was over.  I wasn’t in any pain; my heart just stopped.  I know it was a shock for Mom to find me like that.  I hadn’t been ill, I just felt dizzy and then lights out, you know?

Frances:  Yes, honey I understand.  Did you eat anything in the garden before you felt dizzy?

Patti:  No, I was looking at the critters under the bushes and stuff, but I didn’t lick them since they were too fast for me.

Frances:  Is there anything you want to tell your mom?

Patti:  Please tell Mom I love her so much, and I’m sorry I had to go, but it was my time.  I know it’s hard to believe, but I was a bit older than she thought or what the people told her, so yes, it was my time.  It was quick and easy for me, no suffering, no pain.  I know it was painful for Mom to find me. I’m sorry about that.  I appreciate all you did for me during our time together and hope that, when you are ready, you’ll allow me to help you find your next furry friend.  I will stay with her as long as she likes, but less and less as time goes on, so she can heal properly.  I will always be in her heart, and she can talk to me anytime she likes, and I will hear her.  She may not hear me as you do, but I will hear her.  Thank you for doing this for my mom.

Frances:  You’re very welcome, Patti.

The Cycle of Life

Sally was a 16-year-old small mixed-breed female dog who recently passed away, leaving behind her companion, George, an older male mixed-breed dog.  She had an interesting message about our life and transitions.

Frances:  Hi Sally – do you have a message for your mom and dad?

Sally:  Please thank them for all they did for me.  I had such a wonderful life with them.  I appreciate their patience and kindness towards the end.  I felt so bad making the messes – I couldn’t control my body functions anymore.  I told George it was time for me to go before I left my body.  I know he was sad, but I will keep coming around to keep him company when he is down and lonely.  He’ll be fine on his own.  It’s such an easy life for us with loving parents, good food, and a beautiful home.  I didn’t want to leave, but my body couldn’t continue.

"We come into this world at times we are needed and leave when there are transitions in our caretakers’ lives.  This is the cycle of life we bring to humans.  Our short lives exist in the span of transitions.  Sometimes it is recognized by humans; sometimes it is so subtle, yet so powerful, as seen over time.  Mom and Dad will realize this in time and enjoy their time together, unburdened by caring for me.  I know they will say I wasn’t a burden because they are such kind people, but the reality was there, clear as day, and it was my time to leave.  Please let them know I will always love them and watch over them from near and afar.”

Frances:  Thank you, Sally – that was a very insightful message.

I am thankful for this year’s variety of opportunities and looking forward to what 2026 has to offer.  Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season.  See you in 2026 with sparkles on top!

I am Always With Him in his Heart

I recently did a reading for a client who wrote:

"This will be for my girl, Jessie. She was a beautiful American Eskimo. She came into my life in 2001. We rescued each other. We were together until just before Christmas 2012. She was possibly about 14 when she passed."

Frances:  Hi Jessie – your dad wants to talk with you.  Is that ok?

Jessie: Of course, anything for Dad, he’s the best.  He was such a good man to me.  I never wanted for anything.  He knew when I was unhappy or in pain.  He did everything right for me.  What was right for him was right for me.  He didn’t have to explain anything to me about any actions he had to take, I understood it was always for our best interest.

Frances:  Thank you, Jessie.  Were you in pain at the end?

Jessie: I had some pain but Dad made sure it was at a minimum.  He always knew and was so good and caring to me.

Frances:  Are you taking care of someone else now?

Jessie:  Well, not in the physical world, but from here we can assist many at the same time.  When Dad thinks of me a part of my energy is there with him.  I hear him and I see him. Sometimes I jump on the bed with him so he can feel me with him.  I don’t think he realizes that that is really me with him, not a dream.

Frances:  Oh, I’m sure that will make Dad happy to hear that. Were you concerned about any choices made by Dad?

Jessie: I knew if it was best for Dad, it is best for me.  I just want Dad to be happy.  I know he misses me in the physical sense, but I am always with him in his heart.

Frances:  Is there anything else you want to tell your dad?

Jessie: Please tell Dad how much I love him and want him to be happy with his life just as it is.  There is nothing more to ask for or prove to anyone.  He is a kind and generous man who just needs to love himself as much as he loves me.  Please take care of yourself and give yourself some treats – not the ones you gave me of course, but you know what I mean.  My beautiful dad, I love you.

Frances:  Thank you, Jessie for your beautiful message.

Jessie: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk with my dad.

Frances:  My pleasure, Jessie.

Ruby Watches Over Mom

My client’s dog Ruby crossed over in July. Her words were very comforting for her mom.

Frances:  Hi Ruby – I understand you crossed over in July. How are you doing?

Ruby:  Yes, I did. I’m much better now that I don’t need my body to get around.  I watch over Mom when she is sad and worried about me and if she did everything she was supposed to for me.  Please let Mom know I will always love her and tell her not to feel guilty about me and my passing. Everything happened the way it was supposed to.  I was ready to go and I knew it would be easier for her not to have me on her mind when she was supposed to be working. Unlike humans, we kind of know the process for crossing over and see our greeters ahead of time.  Fear is not a part of the process because we know what it will be like when we go.  The most concerning is leaving behind the human that has all those other feelings of guilt, fear and sadness.  I do come to help Mom when she is feeling those feelings and send her loving energy to replace them.

Frances:  Mom wants to know if you hated the puppy.

Ruby:  I didn’t hate the puppy, I knew it was my time to go and he was my replacement so to speak.  It’s normal not to want to be without a furry companion and I knew he would be there with her when I was gone.

Frances:  Are there signs you are giving Mom so she knows you are there?

Ruby:  Sometimes she feels me in bed with her but she thinks she's imagining it.  It’s me.  I want to give her the comfort of me being there with her.

Frances:  Thank you, Ruby.

Ruby:  Bye and thank you for doing this for Mom.

Frances:  You’re very welcome, Ruby.

💖 Love From A Grateful Client 💖

My client W, contacted me regarding her two 11+ years old cats – siblings Stuart and Sheldon. She and her partner P were overwhelmed by grief as two months ago Stuart became sick and never made it back home from the vet’s visit. Sheldon had been crying pretty much non-stop, missing Stuart so much. I have found my clients have their pets’ photos on their phone, computer and all around the home. My suggestion is to ease the length of the grieving and continual impact. For example, every time the phone rings the deceased pet’s picture glares in front of them. I relate this to a record turning and the needle digs in and digs in a little more each time. (I know – I’m dating myself for those who remember records.) My client sent me this email one week after our session and gave me permission to share it with you, my readers.

Re: Telephone Consult

Client: "Dear Frances, I hope this email finds you in good health and warm!!
I had to reach out to give you an update on our household since your intervention on 01/07/2024. As soon as we said goodbye and the call ended, I immediately changed the picture icon of Stu and Sheldon I’ve used to access YOUTUBETV at the front door.
Of course, I still “see” Stu & Sheldon at the door, but I did find the new icon I selected to be calming. I also rearranged the memory area in the kitchen which provided Sheldon with access to overhang counter top. He was again walking that counter later that evening!

Frances: I realized the crying from Sheldon was not only missing Stuart, but he wanted to speak to someone telepathically like he did with his brother as he was losing his hearing.

My client confirmed she wore hearing aids and I do find our pets take on many of our body’s weaknesses and illnesses. I instructed my client to speak to him in her thinking voice. She may not hear what he had to say back to her as I do, but it comforted him nonetheless.

Client: I also began to communicate with Sheldon telepathically within 30 minutes of the end of the phone call. I’m improving with each day I do see Sheldon responding to my “mind voice”. P is using the technique, too. In fact, she went on your website and purchased your online pet communicator class!

The greatest improvement has been Sheldon! We can’t believe the change that has occurred! He was so quiet and calm. He entered the office (that’s where our conversation occurred) after the call ended and sat in the doorway, looking back and forward between P and me. He approached me, rubbing his face and head on the legs, looking up at me without any vocalization! He then walked to P and the same interaction occurred!

We have determined that Sheldon’s crying/vocalization has been reduced by 80-90%!! It is amazing!!! You are amazing!!! The talk you had with Sheldon really changed the course of his interactions with us! I truly believe he has been relieved of the overwhelming duty and responsibility of managing all of our grief and I think at the
determent to his grief!

I cannot express the relief I have felt since the burden was lifted from me after hearing from Stu and that he was happy I made the decision I did. Two nights before I was to take him in to the vet to have an abdominal tap to withdraw fluid, we were in bed and I was talking to him. As I petted and stroked him, I promised him I would not prolong his life to make me happy. And that he could trust me. That’s when I decided the vet visit wasn’t for tapping his abdomen. As a RN, I knew the signs & symptoms of an endless treatment without cure. I told him my decision and we slept soundly.

Your special talent is amazing and the transformation of the entire household has been likewise amazing. I waited to contact you with the success to ensure the changes weren’t transient. Well, we believe the changes are permanent and we are so grateful for meeting you 10 years ago and your extraordinary talent.

We have told friends and family who have pets about your abilities. In fact, one of our friends has a parrot that has been with her for 31 years! The parrot is not doing well and I thought she might appreciate using your talents. She is seriously considering the offer.

Thank you so much!

Health and peace to you,
W & P, Sheldon and Stuart

Words of Wisdom from a Poodle

Words of Wisdom from a Poodle

My clients are so amazing, both the humans and the furry ones.  The wisdom and guidance from the messages I receive, many documented in my various books, give such incredible guidance to read and re-read at different times of my life.  With my new chapter, moving to another home after 18 years, is very exciting and brings a bit of anxiety in the waiting for the actual day of the move.  My client asked me to speak with her dog. Fudge, who had crossed over a few months back, as she missed him so and wanted some words of wisdom.  I felt a very close bond with him and was happy to speak with him as well.  Here's the message from Fudge:

Hi Fudge - do you have a message for your mom?

Please tell mom the love she has been looking for is coming. It is within herself and allowing the outside energies to emerge with her gentleness. She has learned to feel the energies of those not in her best interest and embrace those who she can learn from and grow with. Some growth with others may be temporary, but have a profound impact. She has grown so much during her time of grief and learned more about herself - by herself – even if others are around her. Listen to that child within and embrace, skip and play for that child within is ready to emerge again in a powerful growth of joy. Take the proverbial jumprope and jump for your heart's content to glow and grow to embrace your life to come.

Thank you Fudge – I will read these words for my own guidance as well, you are so wise.

Yes, my dear, they are also a reflection for your new beginning as well.

Thank you, Fudge - until the next time we speak - bless you.

Bobcat's Goodbye

I recently received this email from my client and I am sharing her story with permission.

"You did a reading on my cat Bobcat last spring, I think around May 2020.  Something that he told you was about his passing, which was that he didn’t want to be kept alive with treatments and he wanted to go as naturally as possible.  This didn’t make sense to me at the time as he seemed far off from crossing over, and that was not the reason why I had the reading done.  However…on January 15th 2021, my Bobcat passed from advanced renal failure from diabetes.  I felt so guilty about his seemingly premature passing.  I felt it was my fault because I had to stop treating him with insulin shots a few months prior.  Bobcat had started to fight me with each injection, which was negatively impacting our bond, and about the same time, I had become very sick and learned I had cancer.  I couldn’t risk being scratched or bit by him so for both reasons, I stopped the insulin injections.  A couple weeks after he passed, I recalled the reading and found the transcript to refresh my memory.  His message made so much sense and caused me to let go of my guilt.  He went as he requested…especially at the end.  He passed three days after the diagnosis, and during that time, I kept him comfortable, gave him tons of love, and the night before I called the euthanasia service, I knew he was ready.  I had the honor of feeling his spirit leave his sick body; I felt his joy and excitement about being set free. I wrote about it in the following blog entry if you’d like to read it: Bobcat's Goodbye

All that so say, thank you for what you do!  And a good lesson in trusting in the reading, even if the message doesn’t initially seem to fit.

Warm regards,

Pamela Knudsen

Billy's Message from the Other Side

Frances:  Hi Billy –how are you?

Billy:  I’m fine – I wish mom would stop blaming herself.   She did nothing wrong.  She did everything she could and more.  My body was only going to last just so long.

It saddens me to see her so upset – thank you for talking with her.  She
was the perfect mom – I know she didn’t think so – but she made the best food and served it with love.  Love was all around – she had so much to share with
me.  I want her now to share that love with herself.  To treat herself like she did me – even half as much would be so good for her. Please tell her I love her very much and will always love her.  I will always be in her heart and she can call on me whenever she wants me by her side.

Please tell her to light a candle for me tonight and know that when it goes out – I will still be around her in her heart.  She will never be forgotten – she was the best mom a dog could ever have.

Frances:  Thank you, Billy – I will share this with your mom.

Billy:  You’re welcome and thank you from all of us on this side of the veil.

Can I communicate with my pets while away?

If I think of my cats while I'm away on vacation and send them love, will they be able to receive my communication?

Yes, absolutely!  In your mind, say their names so your intention goes to them specifically and tell them whatever makes your heart sing.  Have a wonderful trip!

I had to put my pet down - will she forgive me?

Q:   My beloved fur baby’s name is Cheyenne. She is a lab/pit mix.  She passed at 13 years old. I'm having a real hard time. The vet I took her to told me to put her down because she was in so much pain it was hard  for her to walk. I went outside to get my brother so he could say good bye and when we went back in to the room the vet had taken her in the back and I never saw her again !!! I wasn't with her till the end . ...My question is .....DOE SHE KNOW ? And will she ever forgive me ?

Frances:  Our pets know our intention, whether we are in the same room or the same dimension – they are with our spirit telepathically.  They know we love them – no regrets.  Cheyenne had a wonderful life with you and allowing her to cross over peacefully was the humane thing to do.  Remember the happy times, remember them in your heart.  Please do not have shrines of her around your home.  Have a special corner with a picture or her ashes when you feel the need to take a moment.  Talk to her, she hears you – whether out loud or in your thinking voice.  Know that she is at peace and wants you to be as well.  The love never dies – it lives on in your heart.  She wants you to share that love with another pup that needs rescuing – when you are ready.

What is a Telephone Reading?

If you are not sure how a telephone reading works, here is a brief overview, and also answers to some commonly asked questions.

Telephone readings are the same as those when your pet is in the same room with me…as it would be when I tune in to those pets that have crossed over.  I am tuning in to your pet’s energy telepathically and hearing the dog's thinking voice to my thinking sound.  Many times their voice sounds like the owner’s voice or accent.

I speak to animals for clients in Japan - whose language is Japanese - but using telepathy I hear their responses in English and speak to the animals in English - yet they hear the information in Japanese (or “dog” language) – I don’t really know!

Contrary to popular belief I do not require the pet to be physically present. There is a misconception that I somehow read the information from the pet in front of me or even their picture, which is not true – it is as said previously, telepathically.

When people sit down with me, I immediately advise them not to be put off by the lack of sound when I am tuning in to their pet.   The pet and I are in conversation and I will share what I receive when we are finished with the topic at hand.  Sometimes I close my eyes to not be distracted by those around me.   I need to focus on the pet, in the way one would pay attention to any conversation.

During a phone sitting the pet gives me the information to pass on to you, just as they would if you were in the same room, except that I am relaying the message to you via the telephone.

This is very obvious when you think about it; how can being in the same room as me make a difference to your pet who is communicating with you through me?  Especially for those pets who have crossed over – they are just so happy to give their message to you – my physical location is completely irrelevant.

I ask that you write questions for me so you have them ready for the appointment. I will need the name, type of animal (breed), sex, age (or if they have crossed over), how long you have had them, and if there is a particular concern or question I can answer when I first tune in.   It is best not to have any noisy distractions that will be annoying to your pet, or to you.

Phone sittings are a convenient way of avoiding traffic and travel time, and you can (hopefully) relax afterwards.

I hope this clarifies the process for you. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me.

Is This Pet an Artist?

Kibble Art

by Whiskers Picasso

Whiskers, is very creative with her food.  She likes to create portraits in her kibble.  These have just started to appear in her dish within the last few months.

Whisker’s auntie Lisa thinks that the one on the top looks like her with the big hair. Someone else said it looks like lil orphan Annie.  Some pre-teens we polled thinks the two on the right look like the evolution of Michael Jackson's style!

What do you see here? Do you think the one on the bottom left looks like Scooby Doo?

Why does my dog act funny when the handyman comes to my home?

Our pets know the character of the people who we bring into our lives. They will react differently to those they approve of and those they don’t. Many times the pet will act uncharacteristically with this person – aggressively if they are normally docile, quiet if they are usually talkative – these warning signs are for you to pay close attention to this person. Do they have your best interest at heart?

The pets are able to sense if a person is good or bad for you in your home.  If someone is in your home to do repairs, the pet may be very protective if they sense danger from this person.  It may be an unsaid word, the smell (one pet didn’t like the smell of the repairman – the client indicated the man wore the same clothes day after day), the way the person looks at you when you are not aware (but the pet watches every move).  The pet may try to give you warnings with their actions – to keep you aware of their uneasiness with this person in your home.  Trust the pet’s instinct – they only want the best for you.

Why is my dog nervous in the car?

The winning question from last month's newsletter: Why is my dog nervous in the car?

A dog who is nervous in the car - and anxious when the owner leaves the house without them. This dog was a rescue who was "left" somewhere and the family never returned for him. Be sure to always say where you are going and assure him you will be back (i.e. groomer, daycare, aunt Susie's). When you leave the house always say when you will be back (e.i. to feed you dinner, when the sun goes down). Since they don't know time per se they know when they are feeling hungry, or are visual when it gets dark for understanding the concept of time.
